Jason made amazing changes in Perkins during his eight year tenure as Mayor.

Mayor of the Year

The Mayors Council of Oklahoma named Jason the 2020 Mayor of the year, for communities under 5000. In his acceptance speech he said, "Eight years ago I decided that I wanted to be involved with my city and community, not for personal gain but because I believe in the Perkins Community and I felt compelled to do my part. Over the past 8 years our city leaders have been able to accomplish incredible and amazing things’."

He went on to thank all those who helped to make his term a success: Voters, Police, Fire, City Employee and fellow board Members. He ended his speech  by stating, "I believe this is only the beginning, and our greatest achievements are still ahead of us.  For there is nothing that the City of Perkins cannot  accomplish,  As we continue to build for our future."The Mayor of the Year award was first established in 1992 recognizing outstanding mayors who have made significant contributions to their community as well as their profession through personal growth and involvement.

The Mayor of the Year award has 2 categories, one with a population of 5,000 and over, and fewer than 5,000.
